Intra-Uterine Device Contraceptives & Breast Cancer – A Study Explained
LISTEN: On 12th March, Doctor Justus Apffelstaedt was a guest on Namibian station Radiowave FM’s Coffee Break show with Sunet van Wyk where he unpacked the findings of a recent population-wide study conducted in Finland indicating links between certain intra-uterine contraceptive devices (such as the Mirena) and increased breast cancer risk. Doctor Apffelstaedt explained the findings and shared why women should not panic on these findings and what they can do/who they can speak to in order to become better informed when exploring their options.
